How to Get More Done with Less Work

Business, Productivity

Many entrepreneurs look at their workdays and wonder how they can possibly get it all done. Although delegation and outsourcing may not always be an option, there are ways to get more done in less time and with less effort.

Take A Pause

A proven way to get more done in less time is to stop – that’s right, stop and take a pause. If you’re feeling overworked and stressed out, you won’t get nearly as much done and you’ll be prone to make mistakes. Sometimes you need to take a short break and completely separate yourself from work. You’ll find that taking a brief pause is much needed even if it seems to be the opposite of what you should be doing. The best part, once you come back to the task, you’ll feel refreshed and even more creative!

What Do Your Priorities Look Like?

You need to make an organized and frequently updated list of priorities. When you prioritize outstanding tasks, you’ll find that all of the work on your plate is more manageable. Find yourself a project management tool so you clearly can see what needs to be done and when it needs to be done. If you love physical pen and paper checklists, a simple notebook or paper planner will serve you well. But some great digital options are Asana, Trello, Teamwork, Monday, Notion, and ClickUp. Whichever method you choose, paper or digital, stay consistent and you’ll be more productive.

Combining Similar Tasks

The next thing you need to do is combine tasks that can be done at the same time. Or you can group similar tasks that require the same tools or resources so they can be done more efficiently. Some people call this task batching. Since you have already organized your priorities, you’ll be more aware of what needs to get done, so you’ll be able to better combine similar tasks.

Using the Power of Affirmations

These simple statements can help you maximize your time by focusing on the positive. For example, in moments when your work seems overwhelming, you can stop, take a breath, and say something like “With every completed task, it propels me towards success.” Repeating affirmations or writing them down will give you a positive state of mind that just could be the extra push you need to stay on track.

Wrapping up here, keep in mind you can only get so far and do so much alone – so there is no shame in asking for help. You will be able to accomplish much more with less time and effort when you seek out other talented people. You may be able to ask a peer for resources or contract out specific workloads to experts to build your team. Having an expert take over certain aspects of your business can help you gain back your time so you can focus on what you actually enjoy doing in your business. You may also find it fun to have someone by your side helping you achieve your goals!
